It’s 95 degrees. Humidity at 110%. I’m out on the lacrosse field wondering how it’s biologically possible to sweat from my eyelids.
As I watch these athletes—talented, hard-working, and committed—it hits me:
We give them so much. The meal plans. The hydration lectures. The motivational speeches. The roadmaps to success.
And sure, those things matter. They can build tougher, more capable athletes from the inside out.
But here’s the kicker: what if there’s still a missing piece?
What if that piece isn’t even static? What if it’s a shapeshifter—morphing and twisting until it feels impossible to fit the puzzle together?
I’m talking about brain wiring.
I’m talking about how athletes create motivation, how they form habits, how they hit mental roadblocks—even when they’re doing all the “right” things.
The Roadblock No One Prepares For
Let’s be honest. Sometimes telling an athlete to “just work harder” or “get out of your head” is like telling a Mac user to “just install a Windows update.” Wrong OS, buddy.
I’ve seen it over and over. Athletes know the tools. They even try to apply them. But something invisible blocks their execution—and they can’t figure out why.
This isn’t about mental weakness.
This isn’t about laziness.
This is about the way their brains are wired.
Plan B: Train the Brain
Here’s the truth: I’m not a neuroscientist or performance coach. I’m not going to wow you with a 12-week neuro-optimization protocol (don’t even get me started on those).
But I am a seasoned learning specialist.
I’ve spent two decades helping students and families understand how their unique brains work for and against them—and how to hack their wiring for success.
So why aren’t we doing this with athletes?
Why aren’t we teaching them how to play into their cognitive strengths?
Why aren’t we giving them tools that fit their brain instead of some generic mental toughness blueprint?
Plan B is simple:
Get athletes comfortable with their wiring. Teach them to recognize what’s innate and what’s malleable. Build systems that honor their tendencies instead of fighting them.
Neuroplasticity is real. But it starts with self-awareness.
Why It Matters
Because when an athlete knows how their brain ticks…
✅ Motivation sticks longer.
✅ Habits form faster.
✅ Confidence builds naturally—not because of a pep talk, but because they’re operating in sync with their wiring.
It’s the athletic edge no one’s talking about.
Ready for the Next Level?
Your athletes don’t need another motivational speech. They need a mental game plan that actually works—for their brain.
Let’s talk.
